The community of Galena, Alaska was considering several options for providing power to its residents. Northern Development Consultants, based in Anchorage, was contracted to determine cost and availability of local timber to supply a power plant. To alleviate public concerns about deforestation, the following visualizations, rendered from various forms of geographic data, at true scale (not photographs) were developed to illustrate a timber harvesting plan and subsequent forest regrowth. The view looks west along the Yukon River, upstream from Galena.
